Revuenon 50mm F1.8, or Auto Revuenon 50mm F1.8
The Auto Revuenon 1.8/50 Multi Coating, is a fast standard prime lens for 35mm SLR cameras. Specimens (I own), either were built with M42 attach, and are “all black” version. Good old fast fifty.
These notes are related, the last production and most common “all black” version. The Revue brand has been selling cameras under license from the manufacturer “Praktica“, with the name Revueflex.
They also used Pentacon brand lenses applying the name “Auto Revuenon” on the front of the lens. In essence, therefore, they are exactly the same lenses.
The specifications are also the same and identical to the original “Meyer-Optik Görlitz” (Oreston 50 mm F1.8 project)
However, the “Pentacon” and “Revuenon” marked versions, have been improved with Multi-Coating, as shown on the front lens.

December 23, 2022 – The lens was purchased in Germany, thanks to the precious help of a friend; which helped me in buying on the local market. I should say the lenses, because in fact I bought two specimens of this lens. My evaluation after some shots it’s (at the moment) positive. Appear to be a good fast fifty. There are a lot of 50mm prime lenses, and sometimes it is very difficult to understand them. This Auto Revuenon F1.8 / 50 Multi Coating attracts with its MDF and low price. Auto Revuenon 1.8 / 50 Multi Coating is a good fast fix. At F1.8 it has a soft effect. Despite the unpopular Revuenon brand, the workmanship and images are pretty good. The manufacturer REVUENON has gained popularity in recent years among fans of vintage lenses. Depending on the excellent quality/price ratio of this and other models. Consequently, prices tend to increase in the Italian market, they are around 50/70€ for a good functional lens. *** UPDATE MARCH & AUGUST 2023 *** This lens is one of the best lenses I’ve tested during these years. I’m absolutely satisfied with the purchase, and I use this lens quite frequently. I highly recommend the purchase. If in good mechanical and optical condition it is certainly a quality lens.
